Jack and the legend of Burt Carl.

We're in Florida! This is our first solo-vacation since having Jack. OKay, this is our first vacation since having Jack. Period.

It has been so much fun--but the missing of B is starting to outweigh the break. I know on Saturday after being with him 24/7 for a few days I will ask myself what was the rush of getting home? But for now I miss him so much.

As a parent it is a mixed bag. I want him to miss me but I don't want him to notice I am gone. Same thing with our arrival. Do I want him to rush to me? Or do I want him to be like "Oh-hey mom". I guess, in his best interest I prefer the latter.

He is 2.5 this month and that is CRAZY to me. We figured when he was 2 that we would consider (strongly) a second child. Well, here we are and we're not ready. In fact, I am not sure we ever will be ready. Jack was a wild child and a CRAZY baby. The baby part being harder than the toddler part-which I think is the opposite of the norm. Go figure. That being said-we are enjoying the toddler times so much that we aren't ready for any changes. Not to mention I have a heart condition that REALLY REALLY needs to be taken care of (ugh-surgery) before pregnancy. The combination of these two things makes Jack more and more likely an only. Which leads me to my next subject....

Jack is going to be a "big cousin" soon! Atleast WE feel like it's soon though Bobby and Kara may disagree. Next April there will be a Jarboe-Leathers baby and we are SO SO excited! I hope that he/she/it (as Bobby refers to he/she/it) will be more like a brother or sister than a cousin. Out of respect for the Leathers I will hence forth refer to Baby Leathers as Burt-Carl. You decide if they're serious. I also hope it brings us closer to the Harper family. The bigger the family the better and I have learned that having a child will certainly bring you closer to family.

OKay--back to vacation now.
